With the beginning of a new year, I thought I'd start blogging. You know, a new beginning and the whole shebang. Oh, and so that all you couzzies n friends can keep track of me when I jet off to the US of A later this year :) Yeah yeah, I'm a whole sob story. Anyways, to mark that start, I thought I'd start with a little tribute to the one person that has truly influenced my whole life, to bring that essence to this year. Here's to you, dad.
Tears of An Angel
A whisper of dreams, an echo of memory,
Is all that is left in a chasm of history.
Weaving a timeless dance with the oceans blue
Life is deceptive, a mirage of many hues.
What do you do when all you've known
Is taken away, never to return?
How should you feel if words unsaid
Are bursting forth, but a tad too late?
Tides will turn and oceans will cry,
As he gazes down with tears in his eyes.
He had many hopes and dreams to come,
But God had plans, His will be done.
A family he treasured and a life unfurled,
Now beyond reach, slipping through his fingers.
A woman so strong and full of life,
His only love in a world he'd known for a time.
The girl he'd seen grow into a woman,
The daughter whose future he had planned.
A little boy he adored who followed in his footsteps,
A teenager now, and soon to be a man.
But most of all, an ache in his heart,
For the little girl he'd never know, for too soon he parted.
I will watch over them, God gently reminded,
For they too have a destiny, and yours is with me.
And so he nodded and accepted his place,
Weeping quietly but finally at peace.
The oceans will cry a lament of loss,
Spilling forth like love's plaintive song.
Their tears will cross miles,
And well up into walls.
They'll crash down upon the sands,
So when these tears rain on the lands,
He'll rest amidst his family,
High above this place again.
Dedicated with love to dad.
